In many areas of the country, many people insist on having air conditioning. This is normally in the south where it is a lot warmer. It is required for it to be comfortable and is beneficial to one’s health because temperatures can reach over one hundred degrees Fahrenheit during the summer.
Values of houses in areas such as this will be higher if there is a type of air conditioning within the home also. Places that do not have air conditioning won’t have a very high resale value regardless of how big or valuable the house may be.
There are at least two varieties in air conditioning. There is central air. In this system there is what is known as central air cooling unit that supplies the whole house with cool air. The unit is normally located outside the house. Within the central air systems, there are also two types. One is called a forced air system, also called a conventional system.
There is also what is known as a high velocity cooling system. Both systems will maintain a comfortable temperature within the home or building. They both use a thermostat to operate and are kept at the temperature that it is set to. Sometimes a humidity control system will work with these to keep the right humidity levels especially during the hottest summer months.
Some climates need moisture added and others need moisture taken removed from the air. Forced air as well as the high velocity systems is more expensive when installing and maintaining them. But they add more equity into your home than the others.
Window units are another option. They are placed in the lower half of the window and will draw the air from outside cooling it as it is blown in the room. The units are smaller and somewhat portable. Any condensation will be drained outside by running out the backside from the unit.
It will also take the heat out of room. These are more effective for certain rooms but they do not heat the whole house very well. This is an option for older houses that do not have sufficient ductwork or space enough for installing a central air unit.
Even though they aren’t permanently installed into the unit, they can be sold with the house. The only problem with this is that they will not add any resale dollars to the home. Most people want an air conditioning unit that is a permanent part of their new home.
